Franciscan Friars being withdrawn from Mangere Parishes

On 31 January 2008, the Franciscan Friars are being withdrawn from the Mangere Catholic Parishes, and the Redemptorists will be entrusted with the care of both parishes.

The friars were first entrusted with St Anthony Parish, Mangere Bridge forty years ago on 14 January 1968 when the parish was established.  The friars have had the care of Mangere East parish since February 2002.
